automotive manufacturing
About the sector
Automotive manufacturing is a key activity in leading industrial nations and of increasing significance elsewhere. It draws on a range of supplier industries, from raw materials (such as steel, aluminium, plastics and chemicals) through to sophisticated component assemblies, design, tooling and engineering services.

MSA’s role in this sector
As the national Industry Skills Council for automotive manufacturing, MSA’s role is to ensure that the qualifications contained in the Automotive Manufacturing Training Package meet the workforce development and skills needs of the stakeholders. MSA carries out this role through industry consultation, surveys and collating data and research from a variety of sources.

Currently there are eight qualifications from certificate I to Diploma level, covering occupations in both passenger vehicle manufacturing and the manufacture of buses, trucks and trailers.
